Merlion Park

Spouting water from its mouth, the Merlion statue stands tall at 8.6 metres and weighs 70 tonnes.

As Singapore's national icon, the Merlion's body symbolises Singapore's humble beginnings as a fishing village, while its head represents Singapore's original name, 'Singapura', or 'lion city' in Malay.

Situated at the birthplace of modern Singapore, in the heart of the Civic District, the Gallery is housed in two national monuments - City Hall and former Supreme Court - that have been beautifully restored and transformed into this exciting 64,000 square metres venue.
